Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How Much Does A MemoryBox Calendar Cost?

MemoryBox Calendars are $19.99 each. Shipping costs vary, depending on the shipping method and number of calendars ordered. California residents also pay 7.75% sales tax.

How Do I Create A MemoryBox Calendar?

From the home page, click the Get Started link (or click the Resume Project link along the top of any other page). You can create your MemoryBox Calendar in three simple steps. First, choose the photo you want to put on the cover, by clicking on the Upload button next to “Use Our Own Image.” This will open a window on your computer, asking you to find and select the image, from your files. Or, if you’d rather, you can choose an illustration from our library of images.

Either way, your cover art will come up on the calendar and you will be taken to Step 2: Customizing Your Cover. Here you can add a title to your calendar (by simply typing the title into the Title box), select a font, a font color and an outline color. Your MemoryBox Calendar is sized to resemble the shape of a standard digital image. However, if your picture is a different size than the cover, click on the Move Tool to shift the image as you wish. You can also change your cover art from color to black and white or sepia-toned.

When your cover is perfect, click on Step 3 to Create Your Messages. Select a day by either clicking on the Pick a Day calendar icon or clicking on any of the boxes on your calendar. Create your message by typing right into the edit box. You can change the appearance of any message by choosing a different font, font color or outline color.

If you want a little inspiration, you can click on the Ideas pull-down menu, where you can select from any of dozens of pre-written messages. If you want a lot of inspiration, click on the Pick a Theme menu, where you can select a theme that will fill in all 24 boxes with messages. You can edit any message by simply clicking on that window and typing over the copy as it appears in the edit box.

Finally, you can upload a picture into any of the windows, either alone or under a message. Please see the next FAQ, below, for details on uploading images.

How Do I Upload Photos In My Individual Message Boxes?

If you want a picture in any of your 24 windows, simply click on the Add Your Own Photo or Art button at the bottom of Step 3. You will get an upload image tool box. Click on the Upload button and select your photo (just like you did on the cover). The image will load full size (larger than the window). Use the Move Tool and the Scale Tool to shrink and adjust your image so that the portion appearing in the window is exactly how you want. When it’s perfect, click the SAVE button to return to Step 3.

You can also select a piece of Clip Art for any window by clicking on the Add Clip Art button and selecting an image from our Clip Art library.

NOTE: you can place an image alone in a window or have it appear under a message. If you place both an image and a message in a window, we strongly recommend using a white outline on the message copy, so that it is legible over your picture.

What Size And Format Do My Pictures Have To Be?

In order to ensure that your MemoryBox calendar looks as good as possible, there are some size limitations for the .jpg photo files that you upload. To print a full-size 10” x 14” image on your cover, your .jpg photo file should be at least 1.2MB in size, and can be no more than 8MB. If your file is smaller than 1.2MB, you will be given the option of printing it in a reduced size, with a choice of background images behind it, or choosing a new image.

If your photo file is smaller than 300KB, it will not print well in the reduced size and you will receive a warning asking you to pick another image.

Images being uploaded to appear in one of individual windows must be between 200KB and 8MB in size.

All image files must be in the .jpg format.

Can I Use A Horizontal Image For My Cover?

Yes. However, we strongly recommend using a vertical image, as it matches the layout of your calendar and will allow the whole image to print full-sized. If you choose a horizontal image, you will be given two choices: you may choose to fill the entire vertical space with the image, requiring you to crop the image so that only part of it is shown; or you may use the full image in horizontal format in a reduced size, leaving a space above and below the horizontal shape.

If you choose to crop the image, use the Move Tool to select the part of the image that will be visible on your calendar cover.

If you want to place the whole image, you will be offered a selection of background art and solid color backgrounds, to appear under your image. Use the Move Tool to place your image wherever you want on the page. When using a horizontal image, the image is reduced to a fixed size, it cannot be stretched or expanded and, even though the image does not fill the page, you can still only upload a single cover image. Note that if you choose this option, you will not be able to use some of the border art options available with vertical images.

Can I Use Custom Art Or Digital Scrapbooking Files?

Yes. You can create an image for the cover or individual images for any of the 24 windows. Click here to download a .pdf with the simple instructions and specifications for creating your own art and images.

How Do I Upload Custom Art?

Legere me lius quod ii legunt saepius claritas, est etiam processus. Quinta decima eodem modo typi qui nunc nobis videntur parum clari fiant sollemnes in.

How Do I Save My Work?

At any point in the process of creating your calendar, you can save your work and come back later. Simply click the Save For Later button located above the upper right edge of your calendar art and you will be taken to the Save My Project page, where you’ll be asked to give your project a name. Note that you must register (requiring only an email and password) to save your projects.

Can I Rearrange The Dates On The Cover?

No. The dates, 1 through 24, are arranged in a random order, like you’ll find in a traditional advent calendar.

Where Can I Find My Project?

To get back to any saved project, click the My Projects link on the home page or along the top of any other page. This will take you to the My Projects page, where you can access any current or past projects. Click on the cover image for the desired project and you will go to Step 1 for that project. Then click on whichever step you left off with and get back to creating!

Why Doesn’t The Little Picture In The My Projects Or My Order Section Look Like What I Created?

Don’t worry. In some cases, the changes that you have made (including moving an image or uploading a horizontal image) are not shown on the little picture. The art you see is just placeholder art, just so you know which calendar you’re clicking on. The image you see when you are building your MemoryBox Calendar or when you are on the preview page represents the exact image that will print on your calendar cover.

How Can I Remember What I’ve Put In Each Box?

We will include the list of 24 messages and/or photo file names in your emailed receipt. Also, you can simply go to the My Projects page at any time, choose that calendar, and review your messages online.

How Are The Calendars Made?

After you finish creating your MemoryBox Calendar, we will take your ideas and creativity and produce a presentation-quality 10” x 14” calendar. MemoryBox Calendars are printed on professional-quality cover stock and wrapped around a thick and sturdy core, ensuring your calendar will last through the season and for years beyond, without any fading, bending or bowing. We also provide you with an adhesive easel-back, so that you can display your calendar wherever you like.

How Long Will It Take To Get My Order?

Depending on the time of year, MemoryBox Calendars can take anywhere from 3-5 business days to print and produce. After that, it depends on the shipping option you have chosen. We offer overnight, 2-3 day Priority and 4-7 day ground options. Prior to completing your order, we will give you an estimated delivery date, based on the current production times.

I Uploaded a Vertical Picture but it Came Out Horizontal. What Do I Do?

Sometimes a digital image can be encoded with metadata that causes your photo library’s system to read it as horizontal, even though it’s not. To fix this, simply choose the Fill Calendar option in Step 1, and then in Step 2, use the Rotate function to flip the image until the orientation is correct.

Why Does My Image Look Different From The Cover Of The Calendar?

The thumbnail image is not a representation of the cover of your calendar. The thumbnail is simply the image you uploaded to be used as part of the cover of your calendar. When printed your calendar will look like the image on the preview page.
